Are you interested in working for an award winning social care charity?
Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!
Each person we support has different support needs, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.
Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.
The Best in You Brings Out the Best in Me
The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. A career with Enable is as rewarding as it is diverse, Personal Assistants at their best have the potential to truly bring out the best in the people we support.
Let us introduce you to Michael :
Michael lives in his own home and receives 24-hour, 1-1 support. Michael has a good sense of humour and enjoys some banter. He enjoys the company of others and sometimes likes quiet time with his support staff. It is important for Michael that his support team are light-hearted and have a positive attitude whilst having the confidence to follow his support needs consistently and in detail.
It is essential that Michael has a steady team. He likes to get to know his staff on a 1:1 basis as he enjoys seeing them and spending time with each of them. He is looking for structure within his life. It is important that his staff help him maintain a positive outlook which at times Michael can find difficult. This is essential to maintaining his mental health and wellbeing.
Michael follows a healthy eating plan which his staff team follow with him. He likes to get involved by choosing his meals as part of this. He likes exploring sporting activities such as football, and badminton as part of leading a healthier lifestyle but as he has got older, he tires very easily which has to be taken into account. He also enjoys going ten pin bowling and listens to a wide variety of music and in particularly fond of 80’s music. He also likes to collect and read catalogues. It is important that Michael's support team have a sense of adventure, are enthusiastic and willing to support Michael to try new things.
Michael also loves going out in his own car, therefore the ability for staff to drive is essential. It is important that he build links within his community maintaining existing relationships with people in his community as well as forming new ones.
That is why Michael needs you! Will you bring your best so that Michael can live his best life?
