Are you interested in working for an award winning social care charity?
Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!
Each person we support has different support needs, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.
Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.
The Best in You Brings Out the Best in Me
The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. A career with Enable is as rewarding as it is diverse, Personal Assistants at their best have the potential to truly bring out the best in the people we support.
Let us introduce you to the housemates of Burnley House:
Peter loves colouring in and watching TV when he is in the house. Some of his favourite programmes and films to watch are Dr Who, James Bond, Karate Kid and the football. Peter also does some great impressions of his heroes off the TV! Peter likes to get out and about to the clubs that he has been frequenting where he loves to sing at karaoke and play bingo. Peter loves to interact with his peers and personal assistants, enjoys 'banter' and has a great sense of humour.
Jennifer, when in the house loves to watch all sorts of different films and programmes with Mr Bean being a firm favourite as it makes her laugh. Jennifer enjoys playing with her sensory items such as mirrors, fidget sticks and loves looking through magazines. Jennifer is very sociable and loves to be centre of attention, and having cuddles, on her terms. Jennifer loves going swimming on a weekly basis to the local hydro pool and going for walks with her personal assistants where she can people watch. Jennifer has her own car which facilitates her getting out and about to the local clubs that she likes to attend to meet up with her peers.
Abigail is a very content lady who knows what she likes. Abigail loves music and listens to it all day. Abigail can spend a lot of time in her room out of choice with her music on and a fan on her face. Abigail loves baths and has one every morning and every evening. When weather allows Abigail's favourite activity is swinging on her swing, with her music playing more often than not. When outdoors, Abigail likes to travel to McDonalds in her car or to the local hydro pool which gives her great joy.
Peter, Jennifer and Abigail receive support 24 hours 7 days a week. Sadly, it’s not always possible for them to enjoy what many people would consider these ‘simple pleasures’ without proper, dedicated support.
That is why the housemates of Burnley House needs you! Will you bring your best so that they can live their best life?
